Venturing a little further north this week, since the weather gods continue to smile on us this summer and so the search for the best patio continues.
I mean, will we remember to reference posts from this summer next year when asking ourselves where to go for a lovely meal outdoors? Not likely. But at least we’re making an attempt to help our future selves.
Even though we saw the patio on the way in, we got a tour of the entire restaurant in the search for our seats, thanks to a sign at the patio entrance telling us to “see staff inside for patio seating”. OK. We’re new here, so we’ll not make waves and follow the rules.
So we walk all the way to the indoor bar – which was a bit of an adventure given the size of the place – just to have the bartender to look at us like we just suggested we were there to board the plane to Mars, and tell us to just go back outside and seat ourselves. Alright then.
On our way back through the maze to the exit we noticed another sign on an open door that said “please keep this door closed,” so clearly we’re in the land of irrelevant signage. Noted.
Truthfully we could’ve just stayed inside, as we realized about two minutes after finding seats at the large outdoor bar that the evening was quickly turning out to be a little windy and cool. Shane went back to the car for his hoodie shortly after we sat down, and I was thankful to have dressed in layers. But at this point we were staying out just on principle.
Shane and I ordered Summer Shandy on draft and were given plastic cups presumably because we’re outside … but then Ted orders a Guiness and gets it in a real glass from the indoor bar. Maybe he’s classy and we’re clumsy.
Wednesday is wing night, with a special of 65 cents/wing. Shane asked the bartender what the place is known for and he said burgers.
Hmm, what will we order? Such a mystery.
In case you’re wondering, though, they do have a pretty plentiful list of other sandwiches and apps. The theme is Ohio sports, so they’re all named after teams, mascots or sports terms specific to Ohio and the local area.
(Pics in order of list below)
I got the Buckeye burger, which is the Ohio sports way to say mushroom Swiss burger.

Shane got the Tribe burger, which is a gyro and burger together. He also got 10 garlic parm wings, which don’t have a sports name because, well, that might get confusing.

Ted got the Fighting Irish burger, which is like if a Reuben and a burger had a baby. And 10 hot garlic wings.

Shane and I also got the pickle spears as an app, on the recommendation of the bartender.

We all liked our burgers. The guys said the combos of the Reuben or gyro along with the burgers were really good. And for the price ($7.99) it was a lot of food and very good combinations.
Ted was not a fan of his wings. He said they were almost overdone and had no flavor. Shane didn’t say much about his but he ate them, so clearly they won’t make a Top (insert number here) list but they weren’t inedible.
Overall this place has the feel outside of a fun combination tiki and sports bar which probably gets a little rowdy on weekend nights. The view around the patio is nothing special – you’re basically in a parking lot of a business on a busy street, and get a lovely view of nearly apartment complexes and businesses – but there are plenty of TVs with sports to keep your attention. The bartender was friendly and talkative, and while we may now know a little too much about his extracurricular activities it was still at least entertaining chatting with him.
He was also so on top of our drink orders that at one point Ted had several backups waiting for him. I mean, who isn’t happy when their driver has this much Guinness waiting to be guzzled at the end of the evening before we head home?

Maybe that’s why he finally graduated down to the plastic cup group. Smart thinking.
Will we make the drive back up? Possibly. The burgers were worth it for sure. But maybe next time we wait for a bit warmer evening. I think my fingers are still thawing out.
