We’ve been to eat at Market Street Grille a few times now but have never made it onto the patio. So in the name of Patio Summer 2023, here we are.

In fact, Ted said he specifically went back to the last blog post where we acknowledged the existence of a patio but couldn’t visit it because it was too cold. See, sometimes we do actually remember to check this page when we try to pick places!
I mean, it’s not often. So even more reason to celebrate it when we do, right?
Funnily enough we almost were denied a seat there – not because it was too busy, but because we were told they usually don’t serve food outside when there are only two servers on staff. But apparently tonight it wasn’t that busy inside so they said it was OK.
Granted the patio isn’t much to look at – it’s really just a fenced off area behind the restaurant with some tables. The flower baskets were a nice touch though. Kind of offsets the barbed wire. Maybe.

Also just a head’s up that those are working train tracks mere feet from the fencing. We saluted the engineer (conductor? I’m not up on my train worker lingo) as the engine slowly chugged by.
Anyway.
We got the beer battered mushrooms and crab rangoon as our appetizers. Once again sharing food. I’m not sure what’s gotten into us.

The crab rangoon were honestly very disappointing. They had virtually no filling, so it was really just eating the fried shell. And they were tiny – which, given that we didn’t really like them, seemed OK in this instance, it not really a selling point overall.
The fried mushrooms were the clear winner in this battle.
Hey look, it’s time for dinner and we ordered burgers and wings! What a surprise.
Shane got 12 of the Erie island wings and also the black and blue burger.

Ted got 6 of the Cajun garlic wings, and the Flame burger.

I got the Market Street burger.

I also got a salad. Which is apparently my version of the “side of wings.”

The menu had two similar mushroom Swiss burgers and I’m kind of thinking I got a mashup of them. The server didn’t write things down which always makes me nervous.
Overall things were just OK. We’ve eaten here before so obviously the food doesn’t suck if we keep coming back. But there also wasn’t anything we were totally raving about from this visit either.
The one thing we can say for sure is that the service was great. We appreciated being able to sit outside even though it’s not the usual space for dinner, and I think we all knew when we pushed to sit there that we may have just traded a few rounds of drinks in exchange for a chance to enjoy a nice evening outside. But the two servers on staff were great about coming to check on us and bringing drinks out promptly even after we finished eating. And we were the only ones out there, so I could see how we would’ve easily been forgotten. Maybe the train engineers send reminder texts to the staff inside.
