Well sure it’s 1,000 degrees out, let’s find a patio!

Hey it’s summer in Ohio, and as Shane pointed out we only get so many nice evenings with no rain – so dammit we’re enjoying them.

Plus the sun will set behind a building or something within an hour of sitting down, right? And, I mean, if nothing else then the half of Shane’s face directly exposed to that waning sunlight might get a lovely tan. Or burn. And that won’t be awkward at all.

The last time we were out here was 2015, which is a hell of a long time in WTGW years. We didn’t remember there being a patio the last time we were here, although that’s probably because it was winter during that visit so obviously the goal was to see as little of the outside space as possible.

Shane just remembered the steak special. Which we didn’t see this time around, although full disclosure we may have been blinded by the Wednesday wing night special, which is 99 cent wings on orders of five or ten.

I mean, we like wings.

I got 10 of the sweet and spicy wings with a half house salad.

Shane got 10 of garlic parm and 5 of the Caribbean jerk.

Ted kept our burgers and wings streak alive this week with 5 of the mango habenero wings and a firecracker burger (a burger topped with chorizo sausage) sans cheese.

Oh and we also got appetizers, because, well, we like food. Ted got the fried green beans and Shane and I got the pretzels.

Before the food arrived Ted said “this may be one of those nights when I’m overdoing it”

But really are we out on a Wednesday if we don’t go overboard on food?

Exactly.

Before we talk about the food, let’s just put it out there that the patio at The Galaxy is outstanding. It truly feels you’re in another place far away from northeast Ohio. And especially not like you’re really just sitting on a portion of a parking lot in between a hotel and a restaurant.

They had a band this evening – which we didn’t catch the name of and were truly OK about because they were not the highlight, sorry to say – but nice to see they have regular entertainment. They also have lots of TVs around with sports games featured and two separate tiki bar areas with seating aside from the tables.

Shane was enamored with the waterfall we got seated by. I foresee several YouTube video searches for “building a pool with a waterfall in your own backyard” in his near future because he seems quite inspired.

Overall the atmosphere at The Galaxy is gteat and it’s a solid choice for a summer evening patio. Ted really liked his burger, saying that the combo of the beef patty and chorizo was outstanding and the pretzel bun was just icing on the cake.

He made Shane jealous that he hadn’t also ordered a burger along with his wings. Let’s all pretend Shane having food envy over Ted’s meal is surprising.

But even more so since we all agreed that the wings were just meh. Shane liked the garlic parm a lot, but the rest – the Caribbean jerk, my sweet and spicy and Ted’s mango habanero – were all just OK. Mine seemed to be all sweet and no spice. Or actually more sticky than spicy. Like I get that honey might provide the sweetness, but let’s also remember it has other effects too maybe?

Ted picked the hottest sauce on the menu and said it wasn’t even spicy on his scale. So maybe we just came on new cook hazing night and they were hiding the spices? Lucky us.

However, we – or rather Ted – did get lucky in the beer department, when he ordered another round and ended up with a backup beer because both the indoor and outdoor bars saw the order and poured one for him. I seem to remember this happening a few weeks ago at the patio in Parma. Guess Ted just looks thirsty a lot.

I’ll say it again, good thing he’s our driver.
