Hey it’s another patio Wednesday!

I mean I don’t know who we unknowingly paid off to earn this prolonged truce called with Mother Nature but I’m definitely not mad about it.

Ted’s original intention was to start off with a meal at Darby’s on 59 and then head to Missing Mountain for drinks after. But thanks to the expectation of a mysterious large party that was apparently taking over the entire patio it seems Darby’s didn’t have room for us outside. OK.

And because we aren’t wasting these nice Wednesday evenings, we weren’t compromising on an indoor spot. I mean, that’s what winter is for, right?

So with Missing Mountain across the street we kind of just swing in there thinking there was no way we’d get a table on their patio when it was this nice out. Being right on the river means it’s always a favorite on these kinds of nights and we know how quickly it fills up. But hey sometimes we get lucky, so let’s pull up and kick Shane out of the car on a not-so-secret scope out mission.

And because apparently this is the arena in which all our good luck is tied up these days, we were able to be seated. And we even got to move down to a riverfront spot on the lower level once we realized there were a wealth of open tables down there that Shane hadn’t noticed on his initial stake out.

I mean, sure I’ll take it. But like if in a few months we can roll that lucky streak into, say, lottery tickets or rainstorms of cash from the sky, I certainly wouldn’t complain.

So the only big drawback to MM is that you have to go up to the bar to order everything. They have runners that bring your food out to you, but all food and drink orders are taken at the bar. And if you want flights then you have to go inside to that bar instead of the outdoor bar.

For drinks – in order of the photos below – I got the Prince Juice, Shane got the Beach Loungin and Ted got the Trickle Double. Which is not easy to say, FYI, so good luck to him trying to order after a few rounds.

BTW Ted’s glass was full when he first received it. Apparently I was slow on taking pictures and he was quite thirsty.

MM has a good selection of fruit beers, which makes me happy. In fact, if not for the whole going inside to order thing I probably would’ve done a flight so I could try a few others. Damn those extra 50 steps.

Ted got the chicken sandwich with chips.

Shane and I got the pretzels, because if anything in life is certain it’s that we will order pretzels off of almost any app menu. Yay for carbs!

Ok so it’s really just one pretzel, but it huge and so plenty enough to share as an app. And you know if I’m saying that – given that Shane is typically a non-food-sharer – then it’s probably enough to make a meal for some people.

I got the hot Italian sandwich with a side salad.

Shane got the Cuban.

As you can tell from the photos, all of our food kind of arrived at once, so the use of the word “appetizer” for the pretzel is actually used lightly here. It was more of a compliment to our meal than a starter.

Regardless it was very good, especially with the beer cheese for dipping. I’m not a mustard fan but Shane said that was tasty also.

Admittedly Shane is not a huge fan of MM. He’s said that the beer isn’t his favorite and he’s never raced about any of the food selections – and this time was no different.

Ted and I enjoyed our meals, though. While Ted admitted to being slightly afraid of his sandwich when it first arrived, that dissipated quickly when he actually took the first bite. He claimed the sauce looked “cheese like” at first glance, but tasted more spicy than cheesy.

Whew. Crisis averted, folks.
