Hey we made it back! It’s only been almost a whole year of listening to Shane talking about his desire to come back to this magical land of $5 beer pitchers on Wednesday nights since our first visit last fall.
Although he was a little bit disappointed that this time he got an actual pitcher and not just the “do your own math equivalent in plastic cups” method from last visit that honestly seemed to work out better in his favor.

The $5 pitcher special isn’t the only special on the menu either. I mean, if you’re looking to celebrate the time honored holidays like National Onion Ring Day or National Mai Tai Day, they have you covered. They also had Ted’s heart with a mention of National Stripper Appreciation Day, only to rip it out with a me toon of National Cheese Day in the same month.

You win some, you lose some I guess.
All that was forgotten though when it was discovered that they do still have the $14.99 Wednesday steak special. And even though our last review didn’t give a definitive review of the food – just excitement about the price – both Ted and Shane still jumped right in and ordered it again.
That’s trust, folks.
There was some debate and studying of the rest of the menu beforehand though. We were intrigued by something called a coffee cacao wing dry rub. Coffee and wings weren’t something I would’ve thought mixed well but I guess if it’s popular enough to keep on the menu then I guess I’m proven wrong.
And the guys did debate ordering burgers. But they finally decided they couldn’t justify paying $15-ish for a burger when they could get a 12 oz steak for the same price.
Nothing was really calling out to me so I took the bait on ordering a burger myself. On the last visit I had gotten the Islander’s equivalent of a Mr Hero Romanburger, which I did like, but wanted to try something different this time around. So I opted for the Plain Jane burger with added cheddar cheese – much to Ted’s dismay – and a side salad.

Shane and I also got excited to order the egg rolls as an app. We liked them last time, when they were southwestern flavored. This time they only had a Buffalo chicken option – so again in the vein of trying something new, let’s do it.
Just kidding. Color us not shocked when the server came back over to say they were all out of egg rolls, any flavor. Such is our curse I guess.
So we went with our second option, the chips and French onion dip.

Shane had also it pointed out enthusiastically as he was perusing the menu, but I had told him he was just hungry and we weren’t ordering two apps with our full meals.
Why do I feel like we have this same conversation about every week?
Both of the guys liked their meals. Ted was particularly enamored with the sweet potato fries, which he got the last time and liked but thought were even better this time around. And Shane specifically wanted it noted that he was very, very happy with his steak. Especially since there was no review of it last time, which I think his pointing out repeatedly might have been a dig on my note taking skills but I’m choosing to ignore that. Instead I’ll just say that I very much believe both Shane and Ted would order the steak special again the next time we come here. But especially Shane. Who really, really liked it.

I don’t think we’ll have to wonder the next time we look up reviews for this place now will we?
And we can pretty much guarantee we will be back, so chances are this review will get plenty of rereads just from our little group alone. Aside from the good food we also get good service – and Wednesdays are also still karaoke nights, which of course leads to some interesting people watching and song choices so the entertainment is pretty good, too. Just don’t change the steak and beer pitcher special, that’s all we ask.
