Well hello Canton! Our travels haven’t taken us down into the southern part of our target area in a hot minute, so tonight seemed like a good time for a new pick down here.
I had also been eyeing up another bar and grille in the same general vicinity. But Google maps gave the drive time as an extra five minutes away and we all know when certain members of our group are hungry then time is of the essence. Minutes matter.
So here we are.
Decided to sit outside on the patio because, well, even though it’s only August who knows how many more of these nice evenings actually exist in northeastern Ohio.

While the patio won’t be at the top of our list of most scenic in the area – unless you enjoy views of parking lots and backs of neighboring restaurants – it was spacious and also nice that at at least part of it was under an awning. Because we all know summer in Ohio can also mean pop up rain storms even when your weather app tells you there’s a zero percent chance.
That didn’t happen tonight, mind you, but we were covered just in case.
Covered. See what I did there?
Anyway.
Nelson’s has a decent menu with quite a few options. They’re got everything across the board from burgers to wraps to wings to pastas to steaks.
Hey, why not ask the server what she recommends? We’ve never tried that before.
Fortunately she got very excited to give us options. And either she could tell that we were easy targets hungry enough to not want to drive an additional five minutes or she just knows how to make a sale. Because we literally ordered every. single. thing. she suggested to us.
Here we have the Diablo sausage and chicken pasta, which I ordered.

And the wings – specifically the strawberry heat – which Shane ordered.

And the Jamaican jerk wings, which Ted ordered. They weren’t as highly rated on the flavor scale as the one Shane ordered, but the wings in general were a best seller.

And finally the Reuben, which also is on special on Wednesdays for $6, so that had both Shane and Ted’s attention before she gave it the recommendation. They each got one along with their wings.

Well, thank you, new friend. You know us so well.
For good measure we also chose some items on the menu by ourselves. Because sometimes we like to try our luck. But mostly because we really like food.
So Ted got some fried pickles.

And an item that will always get mine and Shane’s attention, some house made chips and dip for our app.

My pasta also came with a side, so I chose the green beans.

Ted said his wings were good. They weren’t as spicy as ones he’s had other places, but they were still very flavorful. As far as the strawberry heat ones – which we all agreed was an intriguing flavor combination – Shane said they didn’t really have a very strawberry flavor at all and he definitely wasn’t expecting a dry rub, but somehow it all worked.
And in case you’re wondering, yes he did eat the right wings this time. After the great wing switch of last week, Shane was extra diligent in making sure the correct ones were placed in front of him this time.
The guys agreed that the Reuben was good, especially for the $6 special.
My pasta was the big winner of the night though. The guys definitely had food envy when my meal was served. And because I had to eat slowly and couldn’t finish a lot of my meal due to a recent surgery to remove my wisdom teeth that required a special and probably very idiotic looking way of chewing, they were extra jealous as their plates got emptier and mine seemed to be growing more food at the bottom with every bite.
I probably didn’t make it any easier on them by continuously reminding them how tasty the pasta and sausage was either. It had a bit of spice but not enough to be overwhelming.
I will definitely need to put my leftovers under lock and key so Shane doesn’t “accidentally” eat them for lunch tomorrow.
And while the food was very good, the service was the real winner here. Although full transparency, Shane got excited and name dropped our blog early on, so they did know they were being reviewed. So I guess we can’t truly know if that played into things at all. But given our server’s excitement to tell us her recommendations, the number of times she checked on us, the way she answered all of our crazy questions and just her overall demeanor I think she was just a really good server who is great at her job.
As evidenced when she tried to sell us on dessert, even after seeing the copious amounts of food that we consumed and my to-go box at the end of my meal. And while it sounded amazing – homemade peanut butter pie with an Oreo crust – our stomachs may never forgive us if we tried to force this.
Not to say we didn’t think about it though. A lot. And maybe want to make plans to return just to try that in the future. Anyone up for a desserts only version of WTGW? Just me?
Picked by: Steph (not Shane who will likely try to steal it since it was good)
