Hey, our ever constant search for someplace new finally found well, exactly that! Sometimes scouring Google Maps like an archaeologist on a dig actually pays off.

And leads you to towns you’ve never heard of before in the process. Could I have told you before this week that we live anywhere near a place called Sharon Center? You betcha I couldn’t.

And could I tell you how to get back here again without a navigation system? Not a chance!

But hey, we made it. And that’s half the battle.

Gotta say, there’s not really a lot else around this establishment. So if you’re looking for a big night out in Sharon Center … well … this is probably your only stop. The building itself is like an oasis of food and drinks in the middle of farmland. Shane swore as we drove up that he thought we had been here before, which may tell you something either about the location of places we visit these days or our ability to tell them all apart from one another anymore.

Seeing as they only opened up like four months ago we were pretty positive he was thinking of someplace else.

The history of the place is written up inside the menu, so I won’t reprint it for you here – unless you want to squint real hard at this picture I took of it.

Helpful, I know.

Speaking of helpful, theres a sign when you walk in that tells you to grab a menu and seat yourself and then go up to the bar to order. Thank you for that. We can’t tell you how many times we wander around like lost kittens when we enter a place for the first time and it’s not clear if we should be waiting for someone or grabbing a table at will.

The larger high top tables by the bar would’ve been our preference, but since they were all full and we didn’t think it to be good manners to just go sit on the laps of strangers we ended up at a smaller table toward the back of the room.

Not only do you seat yourself here, you also go up to the bar yourself to place your food and drink orders. But they do bring food to your table. The bartender (Autumn) also told Ted that if you saw one of the two bartenders out wandering the floor you could grab them if you needed something and they would bring it to you. Tonight our server/bartenders were Autumn and Benjamin. They were both super attentive and personable.

We were impressed at how quickly the food came out after we ordered, especially given it was pretty busy.

Ted started his meal with the fried pickles.

Kudos for presentation on this dish, as well as the quantity. Several pickles were sacrificed for this appetizer, but we can’t be upset about that because it was pretty tasty. The breading was very light and flavorful.

It will surprise no one that I got the Philly cheesesteak. Normally it comes with onions, peppers and cheese, but for $2 more you can make it a deluxe – which essentially adds mushrooms and banana peppers. Yes please.

My side salad was a bit small for $6, but at least the homemade balsamic dressing was good. Not $6 good, but it helped lessen the pain a bit. They also still gave me the chips that came with the sandwich instead of replacing them with the salad. Bad for my diet, but, well, give me a few drinks and I probably won’t complain about extra food.

I would definitely recommend the Philly cheesesteak. It had really good flavor. The bun also didn’t get soggy, which I’m sure most people wouldn’t care about but can be a dealbreaker for me.

Shane was super intrigued by the pizzas on the menu and of course grilled the bartender when ordering about which were the most popular. He was told the hot honey pepperoni or Philly pizza are the best sellers and their personal faves. Which bummed Shane out because he had been eyeing up the Supreme and neither of those recommendations were on his radar.

But after hearing they were the top picks he decided the Philly was worth trying.

Ans he was somewhat confident in that decision until Ted’s Rodeo burger came out. It arrived at the table well before Shane’s pizza, and to say he had food envy is a bit of an understatement.

Which just escalated once the pizza did arrive, and it was discovered that each slice had about seven pounds of pure cheese on it. Which usually might be a good thing, but remember we are still so what in the era of healthy Shane here, so having such a heavy meal was somewhat unwelcome.

And I mean heavy very literally. Like lifting each slice may be difficult if you haven’t had a touch of weight training.

He only ate half of the pizza – four slices – and if you’ve been following this blog you know that means he just wasn’t that into it. This is the guy who ate an entire half sheet pizza at one time for heavens sake.

Meanwhile, just to add fuel to the fire, Ted thought his burger was excellent. He had also asked the bartender for burger recommendations and that was one of her favorites. He was not disappointed.

Shane was envious.

The prices here are definitely a bit on the pricier side. It’s about $20 for a medium sized pizza, $15-$18 for a sandwich. The apps looked good but we steered away this time around due to both the cost and our personal hunger levels. But noting it could be an outing just to come here for drinks and apps if we were out and about in the area.

And despite Shane’s lackluster review, I do think this place is worth a return visit. There’s a great patio space that we couldn’t take advantage of tonight but need to remember for summer. And Ted went upstairs to look around and discovered pool tables, dart boards, another bar and some tables, so that seems like it could be a cool space. The server also said they will have live music this summer and open the patio up on that level as well as the one on the main floor, too. So as long as Shane isn’t swayed by pizza recommendations we should be OK.
