If you’re following the leaderboard so far in 2026 you’ll know Shane is all excited about being the only one to have all new picks so far this year.

I mean, he’s also the first person to be on the second round of picks this year, so take that as you will. But we all also know how much Shane likes to rank things so we’ll just let him have his fun.

Not sure what this place was before. In fact our group had a whole discussion about it. Was it a restaurant? A library? It was giving ski lodge but with the location not being really near any ski allows whatsoever that’s probably not a reality.

Small dining area but there is a large covered patio with windows that can be opened in the summer, and heaters and a heated floor for cooler weather. We didn’t sit out there – it’s February after all, we aren’t that crazy – but noted for nicer weather.

Smelled like fried food as we walked up, but the menu isn’t a really reflective of that. So that’s interesting. It’s a smaller menu than most places we’ve visited but fortunately includes all the usuals – Philly cheesesteak, smashburger, fish and chips, wings, etc.

I’m going to break your hearts right off the bat and ruin the surprise that no one ordered the fried bologna or deviled egg flight. Sorry not sorry. We like food, but not that much.

It’s seat yourself when you walk in and they actually have a sign saying so. What a novelty. Always a better option than the converse of just letting us become human pinballs knocking into one another as we attempt to figure out the protocol.

And menus already on the table. We’re winning already.

Ted ordered a Guinness and when it arrived he proclaimed it one of the best poured Guinness he ever saw.

This is our form of art.

Shane got a tequila and soda.I got the Hot Marg from the drink menu, which immediately made Shane regret his plain tequila drink upon sight alone.

It definitely has spice. Shane tried it and said it was one of the best margaritas he’s tasted. Spoiler alert: he switched to that after the first round.

We got garlic cheese curds as an appetizer. And by we I mean just me and Shane because we all know Ted hates cheese.

Ted got the fish and chips.

I was debating between that and the “real dill” chicken sandwich. I opted to be different and got the sandwich.

Shane got the smashburger, and then immediately regretted his choice when he saw tables around us had ordered the regular cheeseburger and it looked amazing.

And sure enough, given the thin patties that were cooked well, Shane was disappointed in his smashburger. So much so that he even stopped the couple who had been sitting near us and whose regular cheeseburger a he had been admiring to ask them if they liked it. Ironically they said they had been here before and liked the smashburger better. So clearly they should’ve become friends sooner so they could’ve traded meals.

Ted thought the fish and chips was average. It wasn’t the best he’s ever had, but it wasn’t bad either. He said he’s willing to come back for the drinks and atmosphere, but he would just orders something else like the wings or the regular burger.

I liked my chicken sandwich. The dill portion of the name comes from a dill coleslaw that they put on it and that was really good. And surprisingly it didn’t make the bun soggy at all. The breading on the chicen was a bit heavy but that was easy to pick off.

My one complaint was that sandwiches come with fries as a side, with no “healthy” alternative. The upcharges are onion rings (which Shane got) or sweet potato fries. And a side salad is $5 ordered separately. So yeah, not everyone loves the fried foods and if you could give a girl a vegetable that would be awesome.

The atmosphere was nice though and the service was good. Shane had heard that they closed down for a week recently- after only being open for a month or so – just to focus on service and making sure they were up to par on that. And it definitely shows. We agreed a summer visit to try out the patio should be on our list. So hopefully we remember and done wait until 2030 to make that happen.
