It’s a full circle moment for us tonight on WTGW, as now all three members of our group have picked this same establishment.
We were here for the first time back in 2014 when it was Delaney’s (my pick). Then back about 4 years ago after it changed to West End Tavern (Shane’s pick). And tonight we’re here on a revisit courtesy of Ted.
Ted said he saw online that they have a new menu, which is what prompted him to make this pick. However, the menus we received seemed to be similar to the ones we remembered from our last visit, so either we’ve been doing this so long that all menus look alike or the whole “new menu” thing is a marketing tactic to get new business maybe?
Which I guess kind of worked, so genius move on their part.
But hey, either way the wings are still $11/dozen an $6/six – and yes we checked the last review to confirm, because, you know, we like wings – so whatever they updated on the menu at least they left that aspect alone.
And of course the guys got wings because they couldn’t resist that pricing. And also it’s practically a requirement that at least one person at the table orders they everywhere we go.
Ted got 12 buffalo wings.

And Shane got six of the garlic parm.

Remember that special menu math from last week? Spoiler alert, we found out when we got the bill that the there’s actually a Wednesday wing special! So Shane’s six wings were only $4.50 and Ted’s dozen was $9.00.
Anyone surprised Shane was slightly upset that he didn’t get the full dozen at that price?
Because we all know wings are treated like apps in this group, Ted also got the Cajun chicken sandwich with onion rings.

Shane and I both did the build your own burger. It comes with lettuce, tomato and pickle, then you can add toppings for an upcharge. Shane added bacon and crumbled blue cheese.

As a shocker to no one, I added Swiss cheese and mushrooms to mine. I tried to also add jalapeños, but alas, they were out. Which also shouldn’t surprise anyone given my track record for ordering whatever the place seems to be out of that day.

I also opted for a side salad with mine, while Shane got fries.
I thought my meal was OK. The burger seemed a touch on the small side and my salad was made up of a random assortment of greens that I usually pick out of other salads, so I was a little disappointed in that aspect.

But hey, at least there was cheese. The true staple of a Midwest salad.
And to be clear, I was more disappointed in my choices for the evening than the quality of the food or service. So I would definitely still go back, but I would probably just order something else.
They both really liked their sandwiches, too. Ted did say that he wished the avacado on his was a spread of some kind and not the actual avacado slices – which tend to be a little difficult to keep on the sandwich. To quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Women, “slippery little suckers.”
As Ted stated, it’s worth it just to return for the wings alone, especially on a Wednesday for that special. He thought the place was better than what he remembered, and not just because he was the one who picked it this time around.
