Welcome back to another edition of places we visited before and thought were great but then for whatever reason didn’t return to for over a decade.

This week’s selection first appeared on our blog in 2014. At that time we were won over by $1.00 Bud Light specials and a 50 cent wing night on Wednesdays.

I mean, who wouldn’t be?

But then again that was also pre-Covid, and specials like that were much more prevalent across the board, so we probably found 10 others places with similar Wednesday night specials.

Ah, the good old days. *sigh*

Anyway. Here we are back again 12 years later and of course had to ask all the questions to make sure we weren’t missing any new specials. Turns out Wednesdays are still wing nights, but they are $1 each now instead of 50 cents.

There are also drink and dessert specials but since none of them applied to us I didn’t take note of those. You’re on your own there. Sorry.

They also do have a patio but even though the temperature wasn’t quite surface of the sun hot like last week it was still just uncomfortable enough to think we didn’t want to sit out in it to eat so we skipped outdoor dining again this week. Mother Nature, it’s time to start playing nice again on Wednesdays.

Because the unofficial motto of this group is still “we like burgers and wings,” it seems we all ended up with some variation of that as our meals this evening.

I got a house salad and six peach bourbon dry rub wings.

Shane got six garlic parm wings and 12 garlic jalapeno wings.

Ted got six hot garlic wings and also the onion burger. He was mainly intrigued about trying a burger with Lawsons French onion chip dip as a condiment on it. That’s a first.

Cassi and Jason were special guests out with us again this evening. Cassi ordered 12 boneless hot garlic parm wings and a side salad.

Jason got the Papa Burger.

And because we clearly needed just a bit more food on this table, Shane also ordered some loaded fries.

I’m happy to say that the food still is consistently good here. The burgers were done to order and definitely large enough to be filling. The wing flavors were tasty and the size of wings were decent given that it was a special price.

And while there is no longer a $1.00 Bud Light draft special (RIP), and truly there wasn’t much of a draft selection do most of us ordered cans of bottled drinks – we can say that drinks are still very reasonably priced. Cans of Sun Cruiser were $5 each, which is still far more expensive than buying them in the store but also beats a place like The Workz in downtown Cuyahoga Falls that sells it for like $8. 

Service was exceptional. Even with the space being busy, we always felt like we were being checked on consistently and our drinks refilled quickly. Case in point: I had a glass with just ice that was sitting next to me – Cassi has asked for one with her Sun Cruiser can and the server brought me one as well since I was drinking the same thing but I didn’t use it. Well a different server came rushing over a few minutes later with a pitcher of water asking if I needed a refill because she saw the “empty” glass with just ice and thought I was waiting on her. Like no, I’m not parched, but I’ll take the water anyway, appreciate the attention.

Shane made a comment when we are leaving that we should really go there more often. And I don’t think any of us could object. We’ve only been in a few times but so far it’s never been a bad experience. The staff and other patrons are always welcoming, and the service and food are both good. It’s a win all around.
